Principal Scientist | Kits and Assays | South East UK

Our client is a market leading business supplying research tools to life scientists worldwide. The culture is one that empowers individuals, with responsibility given at an early stage. They place great emphasis on knowledge and experience and the working environment is fun and fast-paced, with everybody working together as a team.

We have a new and exciting position available for a principal scientist with expertise in kit and assay development. The primary duty of this lab-based role is to lead development of the program to validate, optimise and assess the quality of our broad range of assay kit products.

As part of this role you will be liaising with the Marketing team to gain understanding of our customer requirements. You will then be responsible for developing and executing a plan of experiments to generate publication quality data showcasing kit performance and to assess assay kit quality. You will recommend modifications to products, associated protocols and product data in order to improve our customers experiences. You will also be responsible for supporting other projects as they arise.

In the longer term, you will play an integral part of the companys kit and assay development plans, which may involve investigation of assay technologies, identification of opportunities for, and development of, new products.

About you

Ideally you will have a PhD in biological sciences or equivalent experience. Experience of development and use of ELISA, biochemical and cell-based assays is essential, preferably with experience in the development of assay kits. You will likely have experience of working in a commercial environment and will have managed staff, as you will supervise a small team to implement your program of activities. However, this is not essential.

You should have a good understanding of the trends in life sciences and associated assay technologies and be a competent user of MS Office applications including Word, Excel and Outlook.

This role would suit a customer focused individual who enjoys problem solving, is flexible and enjoys both working independently and in a team.

In addition to a competitive salary there is an attractive flexible benefits package which includes share options.
