Technical Support Specialist | Molecular Biology | South West UK | to £30K

Field Applications Specialist | Genomics | UK and Benelux | to £45K (£48K OTE)

  • Are you a genomics user looking for a move into a business focussed role?

  • Are you keen to continue using your technical experience to support other users?

  • Would you like to be involved in a variety of customer projects to keep things interesting?

If so, a field applications position could be the perfect opportunity for you!

A global genomics instrument manufacturer is currently looking for a Field Applications specialist to look after their UK and Benelux customers.

You will be supporting the customer before they purchase with technical discussions, demos, seminars and workshops. This means you will be working closely with the sales team. When the customer has purchased you will be training and supporting them to make sure they get the best from the products. You will support them with technical problems by troubleshooting. In this role you will have opportunities to be involved in group projects with your team. You could be involved in designing customer training schemes, particularly prior to instrument launches. You will also go to conferences to talk to customers amongst other members of the commercial team.

This role is part of a team of 5 field applications specialists in Western Europe. You don’t need to have experience in this type of role before. The company is more than happy to train people who have some commercial experience and a molecular background but aren’t specialists in this technology. Alternatively, if you have a strong technical background in genomics as a user of Next Generation Sequencing or microarrays but no commercial experience, they are also able to support and train you on the commercial side of the role.

This is a friendly supportive company. They are well established but also still of a size where you can get to know who all your colleagues are and will have the support you need. Their staff tend to stay very long term and progress their careers. In fact your manager for this role started out as a field applications specialist and was promoted to his current position.

If you are keen to support customers and would like to discuss this opportunity, call Genomics Recruitment Specialist, Caroline on 01279 657716 or caroline@seltekconsultants.co.uk .

Field Applications Specialist | Genomics | UK and Benelux | to £45K (£48K OTE)

Sales Applications Specialist | Library Prep | Germany | to €70K (€88K OTE)

  • Are you looking for a technical specialist role supporting customers but with involvement in sales?

  • Do you have experience in the genomics market?

If so, read on, this could be the perfect role for you!

This role is with a global market leader in the genomics market which manufactures a range of products to cover a full workflow for their customers. This includes sample preparation kits and consumables, instruments and software solutions.

This is an unusual role where you will have a slightly more commercial slant on a field applications role.

You will be supporting existing customers as a friendly technical specialist to support them and encourage them to use your instruments to their maximum capacity. This support to help the customer get the most from their instruments in terms of throughput and range of applications will in turn enable you to introduce different kits to them and thus drive increased consumable sales. You will be particularly focussing on increasing use of sample preparation instruments and consumables.

You will be doing technical presentations to describe your portfolio to customers, particularly for sample preparation. You will be explaining how it can help them for various applications and how they can improve their workflow. This role will also include supporting the existing field applications team by giving customers additional support and training on the sample preparation solutions. You will organise user group meetings, join your sales and applications colleagues at conferences; and will work closely with marketing, sales and applications so ensure that customers are given correct information and supported fully for these specific products.

You will be primarily supporting customers technically on these product areas, but you will have targets based on consumable sales too so this is a slightly more commercially focussed option than field applications and more technical, less pressurised than an average sales role in this market.

You will work within a large German team, you will be field based but often working with the sales or applications teams in this fast paced but fun company.

If you are experienced with sequencing workflow solutions, particularly sample preparation with commercial experience such as sales or field applications, call Genomics Specialist Recruiter Caroline on 01279 657716 or caroline@seltekconsultants.co.uk.

Digital Marketing Assistant | Lab Instruments | East Anglia | to £28K

Global Business Development | Genomic Data Analysis | Germany | to €85K (€105K OTE)

  • Are you keen to develop business for a new company which you can actually shape?

  • Do you have experience selling genomics or bioinformatics services?

  • If so, this is an exciting growth area for genomics and could be the perfect role for you!

This company has had steady growth since it was founded only a couple of years ago. Customers have been using their services from the beginning and the company is profitable. They have a very small team of 8 employees, with the founders currently developing business and managing accounts. They have much more capacity to deliver on services and so are keen to invest and expand their business. They would be delighted to work with you and receive your input into how they can improve their business development and grow.

They provide data analysis services to companies using genomics in the agriculture marketplace. They already supply many of the top companies in this market but have only targeted small parts of these companies so far so they have lots of room for growth. They are even open to expanding into related markets and are keen for you to use your business development experience in the genomics market to influence this.

They provide unique services with algorithms to make certain types of analysis faster. This separates them from competitors in the market who provide fixed types of service. They have many freelance specialists who work with them to support and advise the customers and help them provide custom services to fulfil specific requirements. You will have full access to this support to help you stay ahead of the competition.

There is lots of room for you to shape this company and you can grow into bigger roles perhaps leading the marketing specialist and future sales people across Europe or globally as the company continues its success.

You will be either office based in a vibrant city in the South of Germany or you can work from home. They operate with a flexible team atmosphere. They are keen to retain people long term, so have made sure that there is a pleasant company culture. You will find a good balance, often going for lunch with your colleagues when youre in the office.

If you are an experienced business developer within bioinformatics or genomics with experience selling services preferably with experience in the crop/plants/soil markets contact Caroline on 01279 657716 or caroline@seltekconsultants.co.uk to discuss.
